Badger's Log - Back in Backlog Part 2

Morning all,

Just checking on the blog this morning and noticed a comment on a post I did back in May about my backlog and lack of hobby drive at the time and thought I'd do a follow up on that. Especially since over the last week, I've actually managed to get some hobbying done.

On the previous post - Back in Backlog - I listed pretty much everything that I had still to get organised hobbywise.

Eldar:

 Strip:
- 4 Guardians These aren't getting stripped as I'm sticking with Ulthwe for quick painting.

Assemble:
- 8 Guardians DONE
- 3 x Wave Serpent Weapon sets to magnetise DONE

Spray:
- 3 Wave Serpents
- 1 Falcon
- 6 War Walkers
- 20 Dire Avengers
- 1 Farseer

- 5 Jetbikes
- 1 Autarch on Jetbike

Paint:
- 20 Dire Avengers
- 1 Farseer
- 5 Jetbikes
- 1 Autarch on Jetbike
- 10 Guardians and Weapons Platform

 Dark Eldar

Spray:
- 30 Kabalite Warriors
- 8 Trueborn
- 6 Hekatrix Bloodbrides
- 3 Venoms

I managed to get this lot's bases sanded, but that's about all. I'm toying with the idea of just flogging them on eBay (apart from the Venoms) as I'm not sure whether how bad a state some of them are in, justifies me spending money and time on spray and painting. These are on hold for the time being.

Necrons

Spray:
- 1 Imotekh
- 1 Trazyn
- 1 Cryptek
- 10 Immortals with Tesla Carbines
- 5 Lychguard with Shields
- 1 Ghost Ark
- 1 Catacomb Command Barge

As with the Dark Eldar, nothing more done on these, apart from sanding the bases up. I ran out of spray before I could get to these chaps, but I'm hoping once I get round to them, the infantry are going to be pretty quick to get done.

Brotherhood of the Forge

Spray:
- 1 Archconfessor Kyrinov
- 5 Dominions
- 6 Crusader Henchmen
- 10 Seraphim
- 20 Sisters of Battle
- 5 Command Squad Celestians
- 1 Saint Celestine
- 1 Immolator

These guys are where I've spent most of my time. Everything for this army is now sprayed up and ready to go.

Paint:
- 1 Archconfessor Kyrinov
- 5 Dominions
- 6 Crusader Henchmen

- 10 Seraphim
- 20 Sisters of Battle
- 5 Command Squad Celestians

- 1 Saint Celestine
- 1 Immolator

So everything is on the paint desk and ready. The stuff in italics is almost done now, I think I'm just needing to paint the flesh and reset any black areas and they're ready for a Black Wash and basing. Not bad going over the space of 2 or 3 weeks, considering it's took me nearly a year to start on them.

Bretonnians

  Paint:
- 5 Bretonnian Mounted Yeomen
- 2 Bretonnian Damsels
- 8 Bretonnian Grail Knights
- 1 Grail Reliquae with 20 Battle Pilgrims
- 3 Pegasus Knights
- 10 Knights Errant

These guys just haven't even been thought about, besides maybe "Do I want to chuck them on eBay?". I'm still trying to work out what to do with them, and whether they're worth keeping. Part of me wants to , since they're my first and only Fantasy army and I would like to play. However, I've no time for any wargaming at the moment, let alone a system that rarely gets played by the group.

Although if I remember right, I have painted both the Damsels in that list (no idea when though!) so that's a victory for me!

LOTR Dwarves:

Spray:
- Gimli
- Dain
- Dwarf King
- Balin
- Dwarf Captain
- 7 Khazad Guard
- 24 Dwarf Rangers

Now, in July, I was a very naughty boy. A few of us got into playing Lord of the Rings, which prompted me on an eBaying spree to fulfill a wish I had a few years ago of having a Dwarf army for LOTR (which is what the pic above is from).

I sold most of my original stuff off, including the Dwarf King above, Gimli and some other bits and bobs... so ended up buying replacements off eBay. It also meant these were the first metal models I've bought for ages.

Conclusion
In short, I've chipped some away and clearing off the Brotherhood of the Forge from the paint desk will be a helpful chunk. Next up is the Eldar army to get cleared off since at the moment, that's taking up space in the dining room, spread across the table.

But in that time, I've ruined any progress by getting the LOTR dwarf stuff. So in short, I'm back to square 1!

SB.

  1. Keep the Brets, the Damsel looks really nice, and it definatly wasnt painted last time. Plus I need someone to play against and give me a reason to build and paint my beastmen bits that I got last Christmas.

  2. I am painting quite a bit at the moment but nothing for my own armies I'm keeping. Chaos marines stuff mostly zerkers but a few night lords, other bits from dex including few av stuff & khorne daemons to flog on eBay. Hopefully I won't be all painted out by the time I get round to my own backlog lol.
