Event Horizon

Hi all,

Angryman here.  I've just watched a film I'm sure most people will count as a classic 'Event Horizon' and it pondered a question

In the fictional universe of WH40K, could the gravity drive on board the Event Horizon be classed as mankind's first venture into the warp,  considering what happens in the film compared with the fluff regarding warp travel?

  1. Good spot I'd say.

  2. As you said, considering what happened in the film, the original crew could have been exposed to the terrors of the warp. The reaction of the crew would fit to Khorne's domain(1).

I've never thought of it this way though, but yes. If we follow this thought we could also state, that the gravitiy drive engine of the EH opens a gate to the warp, and what happened with this one guy(forgot his name) who passed it, would fit a possesion of certain warp beast(not sure if an enslaver (2) is right here, because he didn't try to reactivate the drive).

In the movie the gravity drive(3) is referred to as an device capable of bending space around the ship through the dimension above, and allows the ship to pass this dimension as a shortcut of normal space(4). Wouldn't this mean warp is the 4th dimension?^^
