UPDATE: Getting our behinds in gear!

Now that everyone's back from Weddings and other obligations, I'm intending on getting behind this blog, especially now I have an actual Digital Camera - as opposed to using my (and other's) mobile phones and transferring pictures.

So I'm going to aim to get a weekly update (probably Sunday evening / Monday morning) of goings on at the club and any other random thoughts, articles etc.

Hopefully we should draw in a few followers and random viewers, so if you are reading this, live in the Manchester area and are looking for somewhere to play, check out our main page on the right hand side.

Game 09 Manchester Results

MAWS have once again been busy organising another tournament, this time in Manchester at the Palace Hotel, organising a 1 day tournament for Warhammer 40k.

The end results were:
1st - Jay (Liverpool Gaming Guild) - Orks
2nd - Ste (MAWS) - Tyranids
3rd - Andy (Liverpool Gaming Guild) - Salamander Space Marines
4th - David - Imperial Guard
5th - Jamie - ME! (MAWS) - Orks
6th - Mike - Tau

Best Painted Army (Judged by Brian from CMON) - Jay's Orks
Most Sporting Opponent - Jamie

All in all, a good day was had in our first out of club hosted Tournament and will definitely be on for running the event at Game '10.

We would like to thank Paul Reid for organising prizes on the day and all participants that played.

Upcoming Event: Warhammer World

This weekend, the 40k players of MAWS will be enjoying the highlights of the City of Nottingham on Friday night, followed by Warhammer World gaming on the Saturday - all in aid of Marcus getting hitched.

Rules for gaming are as follows:
- Each player must bring a 2,000pt Army list and a 1,000pt Army List
- There will be a 2 v 1 game, alongside a 1 v 1 game each round.
- The 1,000pt Army list must be made entirely from components of the 2,000pt list, which includes upgrades, weapons etc.
- Loser buys the Winner(s?) a drink in Bugmans

Hopefully I'll get some pictures up on here on Sunday, although there's still pictures from our Planetstrike inaugral game and 8,000pt Apocalypse game to sift through and have a writeup done for!

Britcon 2009 Results

Long time no post in these parts, since we never really got rolling.

However, there's been a lot of activity at the club recently, running up to Britcon 2009 in Manchester, where 3 MAWS players participated in the 40k event.

Overall, it was another year on year improvement, with all members of MAWS finishing higher than previous years even with an increase of players taking part in the tournament.

The results are as follows:

1 - Richard Hogan

2 - Chris Green
Chaos Marines
2 - Robert Sims
Tau
4 - Stephen O'Neill (MAWS)
Tyranids
4 - Jamie Eden (MAWS)

6 - Gus O'Conner
Chaos Marines
7 - Paul Burke
Eldar
8 - Lynnette Maxim
Sisters of Battle
9 - Geoff Hamilton
Imperial Guard
9 - Robert Fletcher (MAWS)
Space Marines
9 - Iain Miller
Space Marines
12 - John Wall
Tyranids
13 - Tony Garry

Rob even managed to finish 9th after missing out on his first game!

Next year we're looking to break into the Top 3, and with plenty of events in the meantime to get our tournament practice, it's looking promising.

Testing the MAWS

Is the Imperial Guard the best army in the new lists? Maybe. Is Colonel Straken stupidly cool? of course. Did the Nids fail to rip open the Guard? Damn straight
